Potter´s wheel SHIMPO RK-3D is a free-standing model and at the first sight it looks like the legendary model RK-10 which is not produced any more. However, the robust “boxing” design is the only thing these two models have in common. This model is sometimes called “a modern wheel in the traditional coat”.

Motor is situated directly under the upper wheelhead and its axis is directly connected to it. of the motor and the wheelhead is a matter of fact with most models of Shimpo wheels. It is absolutely vibration-free, it has great efficiency even with relatively low energy input and there is no fear of slipping the belt out with high load of the wheelhead. With extremely low noise level of 30 dB  30 dB
 
The noise level similar to quite quiet computer, you will not distrub anyone while working. is among the quietest wheels on the world market. The wheelhead is made from light aluminium alloy, with the diameter of 300 mm and is equipped with centring slots. The speed is regulated with firmly attached foot pedal, eventually hand lever attached to it. Inbuilt overload protection protects the wheel from various damages. As a matter of course it is possible to change the direction of rotation easily, left or right.

This model with its performance is comparable to RK-3E wheel, differing only in its design and related details. RK-3D wheel is not height adjustable and it cannot be used as a table top model. However, it has firmly attached pedal with hand lever, smaller wheelhead diameter (300 mm) and the extended part of the splash pan serves for putting aside tools. The wheel has an option of free wheelhead rotation at zero speed "Free Spin", due to that it can be used as a decorative wheelhead while decorating pottery.
